Other than the symbol/carving in the tree, there really has been no tangible evidence. Although, there is an indian tribe with blonde haired people that are living today, and there is a theory that at least some of the colonists, primarily the women and children with taken to live among them when they disappeared. It would be great if it could be figured out.

I don't know of any new evidence, but read the book Phantoms by Dean Koontz for a cool sci-fi theory on what happened. It is a great novel.
