is it 4/(2x) or (4/2)x, former is not possible

for latter
(4/2)x - 3 -2/x = 1/9
=> 2x - 3 - 2/x = 1/9
=> 2x^2 -3x -2 = x/9
=> 18x^2 -27x -18 = x
=> 18x^2 -28x -18 =0
=> 9x^2 - 14x - 9 =0
Roots = (-b + (b^2 - 4ac)^(1/2))/2a & (-b - (b^2 - 4ac)^(1/2))/2a

a = 9
b = -14
c = -9

=> x ~ 2.045 , -0.489

4/2x-3-2/x = 1/9

The problem here is to find the value of x.
One of the problems is that mathematical formulae follw a pattern of priorities denoted by the use of brackets. I believe yoru equation should read:-

(4/2x -3) - 2/x = 1/9
Thus 4/2x -3= 1/9 + 2/x
then 4/2x = 1/9 + 3 + 2/x
then 4/2x - 2x = 3 1/9
then 4/2x - 2x = 28/9
so 9 x (4/2x - 2x) = 28/9
so 36/2x - 18x = 28/9
so 2x - 18/36x = 28/9x36 = 28/324
so 2x -1/2x = 7/81
so 1 1/2x = 7/81
so x = 7 x 2 / 81 x 3
x = 14/243
