I went to my first OB appointment. I was "supposed" to be 10.5 wks. Well my doctor measured my belly and I measured 14 wks. Then she did an internal exam and she said that by feeling my uterus she thinks I'm only roughly 8 wks. Why are all my measurements so far off?? 8 wk uterus but my belly measures 14cm!?!?! have an u/s scheduled but this is driving me nuts! Please let me know what you make of this!

If you're measuring "big", you could be having twins. Your ultrasound should clear things up.

There are a lot things that they can tell you about being pregnant, but always remember every woman is different. Belly measurements are a rough estimate. With my first pregnancy, my baby weighted 8lbs, 12 oz, I was quite large at the end.
I didn't start showing until I was 5.5 months a long.
I read "What to expect when expecting" when I was pregnant with my first, I threw it out near the end, because when they went month by month and things to expect, they were very general. Truth is they had to be, everyone is different. Doctor's are different, too. When I took a prenatal swim class when I was pregnant and us girls would talk about our monthly check-up, each one of us would have different things happen. My doctor sent me to one Ultrasound, some had more than one.
You probably have a better idea of when you conceived. It's not an exact science.
Here are some links that may help you.
Don't worry.

Belly fat stored in weird ways, or a uterus that is tilted forward can throw off those measurements. Theyre not meant to determine gestational age anyway.
And internal is more accurate, but the ultraound is the best way.
You're probably between 8-10 weeks. you'll know once you have your US.

its common when twins run in a family for you to be pregnant with twins. This could be the reason for the big belly but if your OB doesnt know wat it is then im not sure he is the best for u. If its been 10.5 weeks since your missed period and hes saying your only 8 weeks.... i dont understand what the miss understanding is.

Sometimes doctors can be all over the place when they try to tell you how far along you are, and what your due date is. This can be especially true when you don't know when you conceived. My best advice is to voice your concern with your doctor, and tell her that it is worrying you that they can't come up with a proper estimate. If you are going for the ultrasound that should be able to give them a better idea of where you are. Good luck!

Well the reason could be that you're baby is going to big or simply that you're going to gain a lot of weight throught his pregnancy. Most likely if your uterus is about 8wks then thats how far along you are

To be honest I've never knew they could tell how far along you were just by measuring your belly. Considering that everyone grows differently.

Just go by the first day of your last menstrual period and calculate your due date from then. I got all confused too...When I had my ultrasound, the sonogram tech gave me a due date of one week earlier than my original due date. My doc told me to go by my last menstrual period.

if you are overweight it can explain why she "thought" you measured 14 weeks.
