Senator Obama has admitted to cocaine use when he felt "under stress" during his younger life. Do you think this is relevant to his ability to govern as President of the United States?

Absolutely! I try to never vote for candidates with a drug history. It's a prime example of their ability to crumble to pressure. Some would be rather horrified if they knew the records that some of their elected officials have. The press does a convenient job of not posting this information so that we can make a truly informed decision when voting.

And, while we're at it, was this an issue during his campaign for the US Senate? What many people don't realize is that the Senate owns the purse strings of the nation. They make the laws; and, even if the President vetoes, they can override the President. They have NO term limits, and have terms of 6 years a pop. The US Senate is the American Aristocracy.

Not really. He's a leftwing Satanic nut who only seeks to create a government that requires more subservience as opposed to more freedom.

My support is behind Congressman Ron Paul who is the only prospective candidate for the Presidency who, without any reservations, support the United States Constitution and has a history of having done so regardless of party politics or political winds.

Why would you support any of the other candidates who swore to uphold and defend the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. Obama is no better than Osama. He's an enemy of the state.

I think too much time is spent on digging up dirt on people (or at least dirt from way back) but if I was trying to obtain a job with the military that required security clearances I don't think they would clear me with admitted cocaine on my record. The fact that he used it under stress worries me more than if he just used it to get stoned it sounds as if he can't cope with stress. Sounds like he may be a poor choice to me.
For the people who claim Bush is a coke head where is the proof, I am not saying that he has never used but i am asking for more than speculation.

No. Show me a president that hasn't resorted to trying drugs, drinking alcohol (didn't Bush have a drinking problem and also tried cocaine?), cheating on their spouse, etc. Youth is about experimenting and honestly I wouldn't believe someone these days who denies doing anything wrong. Give the guy a break and be thankful he learned from his mistake and has become the man that he is today. As far as voting for him, I doubt I will right now. I'd consider it in 4-8 more years. I think he has a good future ahead of him, but he needs to prove himself first.

What I feel is more important is his inconsistency.

November 2004: "I was elected yesterday," Obama said. "I have never set foot in the U.S. Senate. I've never worked in Washington. And the notion that somehow I'm immediately going to start running for higher office just doesn't make sense.

"So look, I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years, and my entire focus is making sure that I'm the best possible senator on behalf of the people of Illinois."

[...]

But Obama seemed especially exasperated when asked if he would pledge to fulfill his term before looking to the White House.

"I am not running for president in 2008," Obama said. "I mean, come on guys. The only reason I'm being definitive is because until I'm definitive you will keep asking me this question, but it's a silly question."

Wait - what?

I'm not comfortable with a man who is either so inconsistent with his promises that he will renege on them in three years if the political winds seem right, or who is so short-sighted that he would make a statement such as that which has the opportunity to come back and bite him in the a$s.

Since he's a democrat, he is forgiven of all past indescretion.

But heaven forbid should a Repbulican admit to the same thing.

The Dems are such hypocrites. Remember what the the Dems tried to do to George Bush in 2000 and again in 2004.

The fact that he admitted to it alone makes him that much higher a candidate than the last two feebs; the party guy and Mr. "I didn't inhale". More importantly, that was the past. Have you heard anything about recent cocaine use?

Didn't Bush use something like cocain? I thought I heard about that somewhere.

Anyway, if my vote was leaning towards Barack and I heard he used cocain earlier in life, I don't think it'd bother me. What's more important is where he stands and the actions he feels he should take.

What is relevant is the question of his real father's affiliations. Too many people are making the same mistake of applauding someone they know only surface info about. Also had dealings with Rezko & laundering $$ in Chicago.

No. But it will haunt through his presidency just as has drinking haunted President Bush.

I imagine someone will associate the Presidents name with cocaine use. I would only remind folks that no one ever charged they saw him do cocaine. No one. It was a press reporter who asked the question with no basis or background.
