Teachers are people.

Teaching is just like the general population except that they have attended college and gotten a degree. For some reason that leads some teachers to believe that they are superior to parents and non-teachers. Hard to understand the vanity. Many have plenty to be modest about.

Some teachers want to be a teacher. They want to help kids learn, they want to be there, and love their job. Those are the good ones. Some people are just there for the benifits, the short hours, and the two month vacation in the summer. Those are your assholes.

Because some of them don't have a real vocation of service. You have to love what you do in order to be efficient. If you do not love it, you will make others pay for your own mistakes. Probably some of the "mean" teachers don't have a real vocation and work as teachers just because they could not do anything else.

same reason that some students you meet are really cool and cooperative and the others act like douches...human nature, some people are born a$$holes, some achieve a$$hole supremacy...some people are just born cool and stay that way...

They're just people. Some really care about their job. You can tell some are burned out, or don't really like their pupils.
