When I plug in the external speaker from my Lennox boom box into my computer the volume from the computer music is way to low. But, if I plug this Lennox into my radio police scanner the sound is loud- any ideas? I have the volume on high in the computer settings. Not sure why the computer is not driving the music into the speaker like the scanner does.

The computers sound output is unamplified, it needs amplified speakers, like the kind you would normally use on a computer. A scanner output is made to drive a speaker directly. There is an audio amplifier in the scanner.

Check sound settings in the control panel. Make sure that the volume is turned up on all levels, make sure that the default playback device is correctly set.
