with my first pregnancy i had a miscarriage, Its kind of hard to take in but it happens from what my Dr. told me it usually happens at least in your first trimester and I was i think 16 years old and he told me it could be that my body still needed to develop but also out of 100% at least 40% of women miscarry the first pregnancy in the first trimester but only god knows what he has in store for you and whats lying in your future so there is nothing I can think of that helps you prevent this from happening because its your body and sometimes there is certain things that happen to you body that you cant control so Good Luck if your expecting I wish you the best :)

Its almost inpossible for a mother to do something wrong in the first trimester to miscarry. So when it happens its usually that something was not right with the baby, it can also be becaue of a cromosone (cant spell) problem, sometimes you or your partner can produce one to many of a certain gene and this can cause problems (even this is not your fault and usually never happens again). Some times their is a more serious problems like the cervix not being strong enough to carry (when this is diagnosed a stich can be put in to keep it closed),also their are other problems which should not be worried about after a first miscarriage as these normal cause miscarriage further on.
It happens to about 40 % of pregnancys in the first 12 weeks then drops to less than 5 percent. After 16 weeks it drops to 1 persent.Then after 20 weeks it is a still birth.
The reason why it seems more commen is that tests are getting better and better at finding early pregnancys that more and more women are finding out on or before 4 weeks, where as years ago you had to miss at least 2 periods so when people had miscarriages before they just figured late period.
Many women who miscarry think what if i had done this, or should i do that, was my belt to tight or did i bang my tummy or lie on it. when in truth none of these things cause miscarridge. its commen for a women to loose her first baby and then to go on to have a healthy one. They dont usually even run tests till you have had a least 3, so that should show you how commen it is.
Most miscarriage are due to a one off problem , and even if you have had one you are no more likely to have another.
More often than not its natures way of telling you a pregnancy just is not right.
Something i read which gave me a little confort was some people believe that when you a miscarry or lose a baby due to still birth or very early on. Its because the baby in past life has learnt all of its leasons and has come down to give you one last leason before it travels to the next part. How ever far fetched that, it was a nice feeling.
Im no expert but did some research after i lost my baby.
Hope this answers your question.

I have had 2 miscarriages, neither of which could have possibly been my fault...I don't think you can prevent a miscarriage from happening. My Doctor told me, when you miscarry, it's the bodies way of telling you, something was not right with the pregnancy, so it aborts itself. Unless a person does something intentional, it is impossible for you to be responsible for the loss of a baby. I am now 51/2 months pregnant with my second baby, and my daughter is 6 years old.

im sure anyone that has a miscarriage thinks that it was something they did but really it's not their fault. miscarriage can happen to anyone for many reasons a lot of time it is the baby not developing properly which is usually in the first trrimester. some miscarriages are not preventable, ,actually a lot of them arent it's just something that happens. Obviously you want to do everything that is right for a baby but sometimes it just doesnt matter, i mean look at drug addicts and alcoholics that have babies that survive....how does that not cause a miscarriage?

"Risk Factors
There are several factors that are believed to somewhat increase the risk of miscarriages:
* poor nutrition
* smoking
* hormonal insufficiency or imbalance
* infection with rubella, bacterial vaginosis, Chlamydia or other sexually-transmitted infections
* chronic medical problems including lupus, congenital heart disease, severe kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disease
* Exposure to large doses of radiation
* Drugs taken that are harmful to the fetus.
* High fever
* An IUD in place at conception
* Malformed uterus or large uterine fibroids"
"The most common cause for miscarriage is a chromosomal defect with the fetus. It is believed that up to 70% of miscarriages are caused by this reason. This does not mean there is something wrong with the parents' ability to produce a child. Rather, there was something wrong with that one particular egg or sperm that caused the embryo to not develop or implant properly.
Other causes of miscarriage include uterine or cervical problems (such as a misshapen uterus), infections, unusual hormonal levels, toxins in the environment, including exposure to industrial solvents, or a blighted ovum."
... from personal experience - I had a blighted ovum last year - there was nothing I could do to prevent it. History did not repeat itself as I was able to get pregnant six months later and am now carrying twins!

Most miscarriages (up to 12 wks) are just your body getting rid of the baby for some reason or other. Your body can kinda tell if that if carried fullterm baby would not be able to survive outside of the body. Its just a natural occurance. Later misscarriages.. im not sure. Never had one thankfully. But later misscarriage can be from lots of thing.. from something happening to baby.. to.. car accidents.. etc.

So many things can cause a miscarriage, sometimes its just not meant to be. You can reduce your risks though by avoiding alcohol and smoking and getting good prenatal care early on.
