I have always wondered what would happen if the Hoover Dam failed or was destroyed. In this day and age of terrorism it is now a concern more than ever.

1. How much water would flood out and how far would the flood go?

2. What areas would be effected from the flooding?

3. How long would it take for the water to reach a point where it didn't pose a threat?

What would that do to the power in Arizona and Nevada and the water supplies to those States?

Thanks

The only credible answer to your question is to the amount of water. Of course it varies, but is around 28 million acre feet. Since it generates about 2000 kilowatts of of electricity, its loss would be catastrophic.
