Hello. I have a wallpaper currently being used on my computer that I got off the internet. I saved the file to my computer, but it has recently been deleted (and removed from recycle bin also) by another user of the computer. I wanted to send the image to a friend, but I don't know if there is a way I can retrieve it. Is it stored elsewhere on my computer while it is being used as wallpaper? It has also been deleted from the site I got it from. I'd be so grateful for any help!

Thanks for your answers everyone! You guys are the greatest! I managed to get it off documents and settings... didn't know it was a hidden file. Obviously why I couldn't find it myself - Thanks!

You can find it in this path :
If your system is installed on Drive C: and your username is Elfie it will be :
"C:\Documents and Settings\Elife\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Wallpaper1.bmp"

Note :
You need to show the hidden files first
From "Tools" Menu choose "Folder Options" then Choose "View"
Then Choose "Show hidden files and folders" and click "OK"

First just check under 'Wallpaper' (in the windows control panel click on 'Display').... is your image still listed?? if it is try to select it.

If it doesn't come up, use 'Windows Restore' to take your computer back to the last time you had it on the desk top. It should be back.

If not, try a search via 'Google Images' for the image again... it may still be available from where ever you took it from originally.

If still no joy go to download.com and search for an 'undelete' utility. Unless the other user did a pretty good scrub-job on the file, it may still be recoverable.

Go to START buttoin then search - for files or folders. Then do a search for pictures but just leave the typingbox blank.
This will list all the pictures on the PC - the background will be one of them.

hi,
what you can do is restore your computer back to before the wallpaper was deleted. this will revert your settings back to the particular day and you should be able to regain your wallpaper. you should be able to find system restore in the control panel.
