Ive read it and i think that Dave Pelzer had a terrible life apparently. I cant belive that his mom actually did that.It is terrible how people can do stuff like that, especially his own mother.I really think that you cant actually like the book, because its so sad but it was a good book that informs people about child abuse/acholism.

yes i read it. I came across it in a used bookstore a few years ago and picked it up. I rememberd having seen him on a talk show (i think it was leeza gibbons).
It was extremely sad and horrifying. It took me about two months to read it, i cried many times and i had to keep taking breaks (i am sometimes extra sensitive and hang onto things much longer than i should.)
After, i went out and bought the other two novels, i just had to find out what became of him.
It's a sad world we live in. I'd love to talk to his mother and father, ask how the heck they could do this, then lock em away for a long time!!!

Yes, I read this book a few years ago. I don't think anyone can say they 'liked' the novel since it's so sad but it's definitely one that every adult should read to be aware of the cruelities some children face out there in the world. Reading about Dave Pezler's plight makes you realise we all have to be vigilant in protecting vulnerable kids from their sick, evil parents.

Yes i have read it . Its a extremely sad story but whats worse is its actually a true story.
I have read quite a few books like "Child called it" and i am so gobsmacked at times how cruel adults especially the parents have been to their children.

I haven't read the books (I don't often read non-fiction) but I took out the books so my co-worker could read them. There is also a fourth story by the same author and another by his brother about what happened after he was removed from the home.

The book was heartbreaking, and yes, this kind of stuff happens to thousands of kids every day.
