If it is an INFORMATIVE speech you are probably expected to use an informative tone. This means your speech can really be about anything, within reason. If you want to inform your classmates about what happened in the November elections, then do that. If you want to inform them on what happened in the last episode of Lost, then do that. In other words, if the ONLY guidelines your teacher set were that it had to be interesting to you and your class and it had to be an informative speech, then your speech could be on practically anything. If anyone(including you) in your class were interested in politics, use the November Elections. If anyone(including you) in your class were interested in the show Lost, use lost. If you have to use a visual aide, (you mentioned someone bringing a dog one year) an example of that would be a chart showing the outcome of the Nov. elections or a video clip of the latest Lost episode. Anyway you asked us to list as many topics as we can, so all I can do is list topics that I think would interest a student in high school student since that's all we know about you. Remember to pick a topic that you can INFORM someone about or you may not get a good grade, and when you write an informative speech it should be written as if you are talking to someone who does not know the information you are going to give to them, even if you're certain all your classmates will already know:
Cars, automobiles
Clothes, fashion
Sports teams you like and how your team is doing
Television Shows you watch and what is happening in the plot
A certain movie that you enjoyed
Any goings-on at the school that interest you, like the winter homecoming
Inform your audience on things you might be learning in your possible elective classes, such as Journalism, Debate, Drama, Band, etc.
Teach them how to count to ten in a different language in your speech.
Any recent political news that interests you, such as the recent news on Barack Obama.
Anything that happened in your hometown on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
If you or some of your neighbors have been affected by the snowstorm in the midwest USA, speak about that.

Best of luck on your speech, Hope that helped.
