I have a ge washer dryer combo... model wsm2700rdw and need a new motor. I was told I need either motor wh20x88 or 3204449. Both are no longer made. Are there any other motors i can use?

were you told this by ge? or a parts supply house? or a dealer who sells new appliances? unfortunately, we live in the days of planned obsolescence, and some manufacturers stop making parts when the machines that use them get over a certain age. if you got the 'word' from ge or the appliance parts house, check with an electric motor rebuilding shop. they might have a suitable replacement or can rebuild yours. just one more thing to consider though, if you aren't doing the repair, by the time you are done it could be close to the cost of a new machine. don't forget, the rest of the parts are just as old, and getting toward the end of their lives, too. good luck, hope this helps.

dont waste anymore money on that lemon washer throw it away and dont buy another ge buy a whirlpool direct drive washer and try to avoid buying any appliance with electronic touch controls
dont buy a speed queen or a magic chef either or a frig or gibson and here is why in my opinion
speed queen: has trouble with the tub leaking due to a chem reaction between the pot metal on the spin bearing assy and the stainless steel tub with the laundry detergent working as a catalist
Frig/gibson: has a pump mounted on the motor with a water shield and motor mounts that tend to rust and break and the pump wont come off the motor without failing.
magic chef/maytag: has a problem with the same mentioned speed queen problem as well as some issues with the spin thrust bearing assy kit which needs replacing most of the time
whirlpool is the ssimplest design and if you dont over load it it will do just fine. If I had to buy I would buy whirldpool but not any duet or any front loaders unless you just want grief or are just richenough to buy new every other years .One GOOD piece of advice is get the sevice warranty protection extended plan and rub it in their face, because you are gonna need it.

you may constantly discover somebody who's had a bad adventure with a kind. yet GE and Maytag are the two very sturdy manufacturers. you may pass on web content to discover comments of each, yet returned, you're returned to my first assertion approximately nitpickers. i could not make a determination on kind on my own, yet might decide to come again to a determination between useful components and value. i've got owned the two manufacturers, no lawsuits approximately the two one. My maximum contemporary selection exchange into Maytag, for what it is well worth.
