Te quiero is for like gf and bf and the Te Amo would be say between two lovers. Like the word bad. You can be a bad person or have a bad ride. Just the context and the way it is used.

If its REAL love it's

te amo (usually between a man/woman or parent/child, loosly translated I have love for you)

if it's casual it's

te quiero (loosly translated I want you, meant for friends, bf/gf, ya know)

Te amo or te quiero. I personally think , te amo is more like, I'm "in" love with you.

Yo te amo (pron: yo theh ahmo)

Be careful on what others write because some of them are writing insults.

Good luck lover!
