This spider usually hides out in the small crevace between the top of the fixture and the window area. Just FYI, I live in central Florida, if that helps any.

Looks an awful lot like this cellar spider:

If you think it may be a brown recluse, check this page:
http://spiders.ucr.edu/recluseid.html
for ways to identify it more clearly, as there are many spiders (including cellar spiders) that are misidentified as brown recluse.

It looks like a male filistatid, and the fuzzy-looking
silk of the web seems to support this. Filistatids
are common in Florida, brown recluses are not.
It really doesn't look like a brown recluse anyway.
I have frequently collected filistatids on buildings
in Florida, and they do like to hide in crevices. The
male filistatids are pale brown, the females much
darker. Also the male has a prominent long pair
of palps in front of the legs, which is what makes
me think your picture is of a male. The male is
smaller with longer legs, also. The poisonousness
of brown recluse spiders is much over-rated. I
have collected many of them, they are common
here, and have never been bitten. I lived for 13
years in a house where they were common and
was never bitten. Their fangs are quite tiny so
they have to be trapped against the body where
they can't get away before they can get in a good
enough bite to penetrate the skin.

Well it resembles the Brown Recluse. However, your picture appears to have been taken in a very lighted area. Brown Recluse usually prefer dark places such as closets and underneath furniture. Check it out on Google Images. If it is a brown recluse it will have a violin shape somewhere on its body. DO NOT TOUCH IT. Brown Recluse are very poisonous and can cause skin cell damage. Am not sure this is what it is but it does resemble it. Am looking forward to the correct identification.

I have simply discovered a nest, in my lawn, of what looks to be one hundred's of little yellow and black spiders newly hatched...Never noticeable them earlier than in my existence.... Being just a little concerned (Yellow and Black is quite often natures caution signal) I have performed a quantity of searches... After trawling the online it looks it probably be a kind of Argiope (black and yellow lawn spider) nevertheless that's a US spider and I am residing within the UK... Further browsing shows their is a 'Wasp Spider' that is discovered in Contienial Europe and often the South Coast of England... Which remains to be a thriller as I reside within the Midlands(England - UK) that is miles from the any coast permit handiest the South Coast.... Should I be charging folks to return and seek advice from my Garden to peer this infrequent website online or is there one more kind of spider out right here? They don't seem to be damaging to persons are they I believe??? - my mum could be very anxiouis!!! Damon

Hard to say for sure without looking at the spider more closely, but I'd say it looks most like a hobo spider (Tegenaria agrestis) or maybe a European house spider (Tegenaria domestica).

You didn't say which part of the country you're in, which could also help narrow down the possibilities.

Even if it is a brown recluse (which it might be, too hard to tell from photo), you're in no danger unless you bother it.

Sadly I haven't a clue - looks vaguely like what my ex and I call bathroom spiders - we used to have several all over the house. But this one looks much bigger (how big is this puppy anyway?)

Try doing a search on spiders or arachnids on the web and you may find a sight to compare pics or ask an expert.
