Try on-line like musiciansfriend.com or music123.com for starters or look up pawn shops in your phone book.

Good luck.

Chinese peasants are producing more and more high quality, inexpensive goods. If you are looking for a steal maybe you should look for one made in China.

Guitars are really not that expensive, though, especially used ones. They are often bought by people who are unaware of the time or discipline needed to master playing them.

The Squire's (Fender) are good guitars. Well made etc. The electronics are cheap and you may want to replace the pickups but the rest of the guitar is made well. They tend to be good values.

I got a brand new Oscar Smidth - Delta King by Washburn from Ubid for $100. Pretty good and I love it.

Keep looking in Ubid.com, egghead.com, music123.com or ebay.com, you will come across some really good one.

Ebay. I would advise you to get a fender squier----the excellence of fender, at a low cost-----they aren't nearly as perfect as the fender strat, but cost waayy less. good luck to you.

eBay.

But you never really know what you might be getting. I don't know what music shops are in the UK.

Good luck though.
