there is not much difference apart from size, colour and brightness of the screen. they still paly the same games and the same formats and also have the same funtions.

The DS lite is much, much better than the DS Phat (the old DS).
First off, the Lite is much smaller and more compact. So the DS is more of a handheld game and less of a paperweight.
Second, the Light settings are much better on the Lite. The colors are just a lot brighter and allow for a much more fun gameplay.
The stylus is also bigger, so you'll be able to play more comfortably and won't get hand-cramps. (which is always a plus)
And finally, a few of the buttons (like the enter button), have been switched around to allow for a smoother transition when playing.
The DS Lite is definitely better, so if you're looking into which one to buy, it's worth the extra $20-30 dollars. But if you already have a Phat, it's up to you whether you want to shell out another $100 more.

The Normal Nintendo DS. This is because of:
1: The D-Pad
2: The Screen is a bit larger
3: The Right Size for your hands, not to small
4: The GBA Slot isn't to small for the cartridge to stick out
5: Nice Buttons, Very nice feel to them!
You should try it out!! The Original is better! By a longshot!! But they are all put out of production!!!!!!

I prefer the ornginal Nintendo DS just because it looks better and has style that the lite doesn't have. There is no difference in performan and its all the same hardware just put into a different case.

No, the original model is better. The GBA game pack sticks out a bit, allowing you to use the E-reader, but if you drop your DS lite on the ground with a GBA game inserted, it might snap!!

the only things that are different are the screen brightness and the size of the DS lite is smaller than the original!!
I think the original DS is nicer because there is a better range of colours!! .........and because i have one!!

according to both my kids the original ds is better they wouldnt explain as to why
