I don't want to pay for Powerpoint, but I know there are other ways to open Powerpoint slides.

I have Microsoft Works: Microsoft Spreadsheet, Microsoft Data, etc
but none of them work.

The following Microsoft PowerPoint features are not supported by this viewer:
Information Rights Management (IRM) presentations.
Running macros, programs, or opening linked or embedded objects.

Download "powerpoint viewer" from Microsoft. It's free and allows you to view, but not create Powerpoint presentations. Same goes for Excel and Word if you don't have them.
