Okay, I don't remember the characters' names.
Basically, the fat guy that was being interviewed was real.
He was the killer.
He had a multiple personality disorder, so the John Cusack character was one of his personalities.
The other characters, I think, were either victims he killed at various times, or else they were his other personalities. I saw it quite some time ago.

none of the characters are real they are the multiple personalities of the bald headed prisoner. The personality of the young girl that picks oranges in the final scene is the violent personality that the killer assumes when he commits his crimes. the others aren't violent.
