If the employer feels that the bankruptcy can impact his business - yes.

If you were a waitress then it shouldn't matter. However if you were in a position where you had access to trade secrets, customer information, personnel information or financial data - then this would be a significant concern.

It depends on the job. If you are in a position that requires handling money - a poor credit rating can be cause for not hiring you to begin with. Once you are employed - technically it would be against the law to fire you just for filing bankruptcy. However, your employer could find other causes and use those to fire you if he or she wants to avoid having it appear it was discrimination. Not necessarily fair - but real life.

It depends on who you work for.The US Supreme Court has ruled that businesses that deal in loans etc,can in fact require that employees be "financially stable"
