80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

It's normally a matter of opinion. Everyone chooses to live their life a certain way according to what it is they believe, which is where religion may come into play. You'll probably get numerous answers, like "being happy", or "finding love", or "becoming successful", but you probably couldn't tell what the absolute right answer is. You could probably only select what is right based on what you agree with. Basically, everyone lives their life for a certain purpose, whatever it may be. It's a matter of what a person believes that affects what life means to them.

Life is about making mistakes, learning, getting hurt, been happy, been unhappy, been sad, feeling lonelly, feeling full of people that loves you, crying, laughing, saying things we dont mean, saying things we do mean. These things make th emeaning of life. Also you can always add a bit to your own life, each persorn can add an extra meaning. Example me, i believe the reason im here in this world, besides, experiencing all those things, is to help others, n i might not help evryone, but 1 at a time can make a difference. Life its what you make of it, n the what the ride comes with, how we react, n how we can impact our own lifes n others.

The meaning of life is what you do with it. You are only here a short time, so if you waste it, there is no meaning to it. What other meaning could there be?

does life really have any meaning or is it our mind which imposes meanings to life? To say that life has a defined meaning would be to say that the meaning of life is defined by the human consciousness! life is an infinite field of expression... but to say that it is for a reason is not valid bcoz whatever reasons we attribute are through our perception... and there's more to life than that!

The meaning of life is to post this question on Yahoo Answers 15 times a day and never ever ever ever read a previous post. They just couldn't have meant what you mean.

What, that old football? Okay, here goes. The meaning of life is life. Life exists to propagate life. Pass it on (your genes)

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

The question is subjective, and the answer likewise. It depends on your point of view, what "meaning" means to you, what you're satisfied with. My personal opinion: everything simply IS, and you can fabricate as many gimmicks around that as you like. It's your prerogative, being a conscious entity.
