Anyway last Friday I teated myself to a chippy, which wa sout of this world! he he he anyway my husband gets back in about half an hour from working away and said he would pick us up a chippy on the way home as a treat, I probably wont have one again for a month or so, do you think it will do any harm? I am not overweight and blood pressure is fine etc, will this treat do me or baby any harm?

The fish used in fish and chips is usually cod. As long as you don't eat more than 12 oz of fish a week you will be fine. Salmon is actually recommended during pregnancy. The types of fish to avoid are the following (b/c of their high mercury content): Shark, King Mackeral, Swordfish, Tuna (not canned), and Sushi.

Its fine- I had cravings for steak pie and chips at the start- luckily this has stopped now and I am eating healthier. I've just found out that I'm having a boy- I thinks hes going to take after his dad!

i think it is absolutely fine to treat yourself once and a while. You are obviously doing really well and eating plenty of fruit and veg. blueberrys are very good during pregnancy and other berrys like that. I personally couldnt eat chips during my pregnancy as it gave me really bad heart burn. i now have a beautiful 5 month old baby boy. good luck for the rest of your pregnancy

Don't be so paranoid
stop reading the books
Its smoking and drinking too much that can harm the baby not fish and chips

You're doing really well with everything...so treat yourself. The only downside is heartburn, but if the chips don't cause it, you carry on eating them. Think of all the stuff our mothers and their mothers used to eat, very unhealthy by today's standards, but they went on to having healthy babies. Good luck with everything

Fish and chips is about the healthiest take away you can get. There's plenty of protein in the fish. It's high in fat, but that's not a problem once in a while.

Stop being silly! I'm pregnant and had fish & chips last night.. WOW! It won't kill me! Any doctor will tell you it is still ok to eat junk food in moderation. Please go see you doctor for reassurance as you seem very confused about what and what not to eat.

No of course it will not.
Do not use vinegar though as it has been known to ferment in the gut and cause enough alcohol to fail a blood test.
