There is only one reason which I've found to support humans drinking cow's milk. We have grown up hearing that it's good for us and that we've grown accustomed to the taste and texture. Otherwise there is absolutely no nutrition that can not be obtained elsewhere, minus the negatives. Calcium seems to be the major claim for milk. It can be found elsewhere in green vegetables, almonds, and many other sources. Why we continue to drink cow's milk laced with growth hormones, antibiotics, and who knows what else is beyond me.

Since I've given up drinking milk about 5 years ago my health has greatly improved. Fewer allergy problems, asthma and breathing problems greatly reduced, I'm sleeping better, and I have more energy.

Do some research online and decide for yourself.

follow on milk is just a piontless waste of time for the parent and a massive money making scam for the companies!
My little girl has soya milk and the health visitor said that this is fine for her. Check the info on the side of the carton and see what it says, most are suitable from 6months but not as a main drink until 12months.

Follow-on milk not necessary, mine both on cows milk from 12 month onwards. Best to ask your health visitor for advice about the soya milk.

We were told there is no need for follow on milk when the baby is older than 12 mths. Don't believe the adverts - they just want to sell extra follow on milk.

From 12 months you can give your baby cow,s milk but it has to be full fat. I know what you mean about the follow on milk. All babies are different your baby might not like cow,s milk when you give it to him so carry on giving him his formula milk but keep introducing cow,s milk. My son is 1 next month and he,s been on cow and gate step up milk for about 2/3 months now.
Next step for me is to put him on the cow,s milk.
I do give him little bits now to get him used to the taste of it. He has it on cereals in the morning and seems to like it. Just hope he likes it when there,s a full bottle of it.

i gave my first child follow on milk from 6 months to about 15 months as would not dring cows milk and then slowly ounce by ounce slowly got her to dring it....not everyone likes cows milk so do what you feel is best, follow on milk is fine but maybe add so cheese they like to their diet!...good luck
Another thing to think about is that regarding soya milk i heard from my health visitor the other day that they do not give soya products to kids under three as its been proven to have alot of eastragan (not sure on spelling)...I know this as my baby is lactose intolerant and can not have any milk products so she is prescribed a specail lactose free milk, where as before they would of put her onto soya milk....check with ya health vistitor

No. Just money spinning idea for formula companies. Get your baby onto full cream cows milk. You would need to speak to your health visitor/gp to see if soya milk ok for small child.

I give my youngest daughter follow on milk simply because she refuses to drink normal milk. If your baby is happy with the milk the rest of the family drinks then use that, it is easier and in most cases cheaper!!

I give my daughter whole milk (cows milk). Actually, I found that when I breast fed, she sicked up most of it. Then I switched to formula and she only sicked up half of it. Now she's on cows milk, she doesn't sick up at all. I think the formula manufacturers are just looking for a reason to keep the money coming after your child turns 12 months.
