I know these men and women are extensively background checked,but they are only human and there is always the chance that one of them may be turned or get psychotic and attack the president.Has it ever happened?

The book "Mortal Error" was written several years ago by a firearms consultant to CBS's own investigation of the JFK assasination. The author advanced the theory the Secret Service agent James Hickey accidentally shot JFK while grabbing an AR-15 rifle after hearing the first shot. It was a very well written book whose thesis I don't agree with but must be added in with all of the less credible explanations which now form the popular explanation of JFK's demise.

No. Not to my knowledge. Those men and women have promised and swron to protect the Pres. life, but like you said "they are only human."

I don't think so, but then again, they may not have publicized it if it did happen...
The other agents would probably protect the president from the lunatic.
