I lived the first 17 years of my life there. Now at 32, I wouldn't go back to the neighborhood I grew up in to save my life. Much higher crime. Home values have gone WAY down. It was extreme middle class when I lived there. Now it's very much "not" that.
Spring is a wide area and there's no way to say. It's on both sides of I-45 and way too hard to generalize as to what is good or bad.
What do you term as bad? Good? Are you looking to move there? Work there?
If it helps, my boyfriend and I are looking at buying a house in the 2920/Kuykendahl area. Good area. Decent schools. Growing. But yet the tax rate is still low and the homeowner association fees haven't gone through the roof like some areas have.

I stay in Spring. some elements are more effective perfect than others to stay in. the realm of Spring between US-fifty 9 and Interstate-40 5 (really east of 40 5) is a decrease priced/decrease income section so for sure you get the topics that bypass alongside with that. that is a few distance from "crackheads and ghettos" yet once you've the alternative, that is more effective perfect to stay clean of that component of Spring. the realm of Spring between Interstate-40 5 and State highway 249 (west of 40 5) is center/higher center type section and has some impressive neighborhoods. that is the position we stay and prefer it. some somewhat positive neighborhoods are Northhampton, Augusta Pines and Gleannloch Farms. Spring is about 35 miles from downtown so the comute might want to correctly be a lengthy one till you're keen to take the Hardy highway on a on a daily basis foundation which could decrease down some time.

Spring is a very nice area. I lived in that area for 2 years. Crime is low and from what I have seen the schools are pretty good. The area itself is very pretty. There are lots of trees and you don't really feel like you are living in a huge city.

Klien collins and shindewulf are the college preperatory high school and middle school, I live near 2920 and kuykendahl and it is very nice! The areas east of 45 tend to be older than to the west. If you are looking for a wonderful area look at from steubner to 45 and from cypresswood to spring stuebner. Schools are very good property taxes are fair and it is quiet without too many renters

I would suggest moving to the Oak Ridge area, which is the northern part of Spring. Take I-45 North to Rayford-Sawdust and take a left, pass the railroad tracks. There are many great, safe, affordable places to live in this area. The schools there are also wonderful. Good luck with your big move, I think you'll like it in Houston!

Spring used to be all good, but with urban sprawl, it's changed quite a bit in the last 15 years. If you want to get an idea of the neighborhoods and who is living there, just go the DPS website and look up sex offenders in any of the subdivisions. This will give you a general idea of what neighborhoods to stay out of. You could also check out home sale prices on har.com. Again, the home prices will give you a general idea of the people who live there.

So long as you stay on the west side of I45 you should be fine. Terranova and Spring Creek Oaks, I know are a part of the Klein ISD, which is an excellent school district.
Hope I was of some help.
