Couldnt they just make you put them in your watchlist and choose if you want other people to know?

Go to the blog page. It is so you can save your favorite answered questions to read them under the starred questions tab. Since we can't delete the extraneous questions that we are tired of.

It'a simple indication of whether or not people found your question interesting. It's much easier than looking at everybody's watch list.
