On the meet the press, or whichever political saturday show that was, he was very animated and upset in saying how he did attempt to go after and capture Osama Bin Laden while he was in office. I've read articles that His "attempt" was signing a contract with the Pakistani government, and for that gvt to go after him. How is that even a credible statement to say that he did all he could within his power to capture Bin Laden.

That all being said, does anyone have any links or know where i can go to see articles about his contracts with Pakistan. Unfortunately for me, I never saved these things when I read them, but now wish i have.

Thanks aviator, actually, thanks almost everyone. Amazing though how very few liberals decided to chime in here, because there really is no defense.

After the attacks failed, Clinton moved his focus to diplomatic pressure. On the advice of the State Department, Clinton encouraged Pakistan, whose military intelligence agency was a patron of the Taliban, to pressure the Taliban to remove bin Laden. After numerous meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistani’s would still not cooperate.[22] Sharif eventually agreed to allow the Unites States to train Pakistani special forces to find bin Laden. When Sharif was ousted by Pervez Musharraf, the plan was abandoned.[31]

Look at the date than tell me what he was wanted for at that time. We do not apprehend or kill everybody that threatens America. In 1996 we regarded Osama bin Laden as a financier of terrorism and not as a mastermind because, at the time there was no evidence that bin Laden had harmed American citizens.

"Although Mr Clinton accepted that the Taliban regime was inextricably linked to bin Laden's al-Qa'eda network, he refused to consider any military action against it. Envoys were twice despatched to Afghanistan to deliver warnings to the Taliban.

The Clinton administration believed that these would be interpreted as ultimatums similar to that subsequently outlined by President Bush before Congress on Sept 20.

However, Mr Clinton's national security team was reluctant to move beyond rhetoric. "There were verbal scoldings but that was about it," said Gen Shelton. "When discussions came up of what are we going to do, the military focus stayed on Osama bin Laden himself and his outfit."

Mr Clinton authorised the assassination of the al-Qa'eda leader and his lieutenants but would not agree to any operation that could have killed women and children around bin Laden."

Bill had a couple of chances to take out BL but did not do it. One chance was when BL was camping in the desert with a member of the royal family (prince I think) but Bill did not want to risk the life of the prince. There was another occasion when BL was offered to Clinton but he declined IMO so he would not appear to be politically incorrect.

Actually he was working closely with different area militias and the intelligence service of the UAE. When they were unable to get at him the US deployed nuclear subs to the Persian gulf to order strikes against an Al Quaeda/Taliban stronghold in the city of Jahalala.

The CIA and NSA would not certify the information President Clinton had on bin Ladin was correct. Also, Clinton wasn't looking to implement a full-scale attack, but rather to "off' Osama quietly. Unlike Bush, Clinton didn't say, "Who cares?" And then go after bin Ladin half-******.

The newschannel was FOX News, by the way (surprise).

The best chance he had at capturing Bin Laden was when OBL was released from a Yemeni prison, and Yemen offered to release him to the custody of the US.

The Soviets killed Osama in 1987, during the Afghan War. The majority of the world knows this. Everything since then has been a hoax.
