No, the doomsday clock only shows a guesstimate of how close we are to nuclear war.

The Doomsday was a possibility in 1987 as a nuclear war between the USA and USSR. It didn't happen and what is going to happen in 2012 is a move into a new energy not 'the end of the world'. It will be the beginning of a move towards the long awaited peace on earth created by the children who are born now who when they grow up will achieve the unachievable.
"The main prophesies given in your scripture paint a picture which is now impossible to fulfill, both in the timeline given and with the players that were indicated. Those who tell you that there is still correlation wish you to continue to react and remain in fear. The fall of the Soviet Union in the late 80's, and the positioning of China both have
voided the main scenario. The clock also ran-out long ago for the prophesies to happen when they
were foretold.
There will always be those who will try to correlate the metaphors of scripture to their own needs. You have the option to tremble in fear yet again for whatever duration you wish, or move forward in action to create a peaceful earth. Those who shut their doors and await an awful end will someday emerge and realize that they wasted years in worry when they could have been joyful and productive."

Matthew 24: 36-39 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothng about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."

was announced on 13 January, 2007 that the clock would move forward on 17 January, 2007 to reflect what the Board of Directors call worsening nuclear and climate threats to the world. Before this, the clock was changed in 2002 back to seven minutes to midnight, after recent deterioration in international relations. Each time nuclear conflict comes closer, it is moved forward. Conversely, the minute hand moves back as world events improve. It has been moved 18 times in response to international events since its initial start at seven minutes to midnight in 1947:
We can-and have-many times changed our destiny and moved the hands back. This is a wakeup call.
In 1960 - In response to a perception of increased scientific cooperation and public understanding of the dangers of nuclear weapons, clock is changed to seven minutes to midnight (five minutes further from midnight).
In 1963 - The United States and Soviet Union sign the Partial Test Ban Treaty, limiting atmospheric nuclear testing. Clock changed to twelve minutes to midnight (another five minutes further).
I personally believe there is no predestiny-we can change it but that requires cooperation. The "end"-that's been predicted many, many times and hasn't happened-but we do need to respond to these dangers before the end really comes..I have concerns that younger people may not understand the horrific danger of nuclear warfare.

The doomsday clock is adjusted all of the time. Its not acurate in any respect because of the fact there is not any thank you to foretell whilst humanity will die off. And whats the dimensions besides? a million hour = a million hundred years? i presumed they based in on medical information, and not crap like 2012.... yet does the history channel have administration over it?

don't be silly! the world will end next Tue at 16:34:13
But really that is a good point, the natural resources we rely on will be depleted within our lifetime easily. By that time the planet will be at boiling point as we are seeing all ready with parts of Southern France looking like desert.
The question we really need to ask is what can we do (if anything) to stop or delay this cataclysmic sequence of events.

People of the world have been talking about its end for along time now and they have been wrong!!! 1984, 1996, 2000 and many more dates. Relax when the end comes I think we all would know it. Take care of each other, Love your neighbor, Be kind to the earth! The rest will take care of itself. Get right with God that will help too!

in northern ireland we have been getting doomsdays for the last forty years and it had nothing to do with nuclear bombs but more to do with peace in ireland so its with a great sigh of relief we now can have peace without there being adoomsday. i will now believe that the doomsday we are all so worried about will come about by our own hands for the rate of climate change should give us all a wake up call

The doomsday clock was set up by a magazine years ago to get a prospective on how they thought society was progressing. It was either Time or Newsweek.

Yes! The end of human history, as we know it, gets closer to "midnight" every day. 2012 sounds about right. But, it could come at any moment. Whether that's good or bad depends on what you believe about the "end of time."
