I believe that it would be the human connection that they get. People answering often have experienced the question themselves or have direct knowledge that they feel would inform others as they answer the question.
Google is great, but you have no direct human connection or experience behind the answer. Why do blogs etc thrive? For the same reason. Contact with others. Even if sometimes the others are different, the human experience is the same for some many of us.
I do not think that people who ask questions on Yahoo are lazy, it takes a longer time to wait for a response when awaiting an answer than to go to google. They just want to know what others are thinking or what their experience has been or what they would recommend.
Hope this helps...
Talk at you later,
Monica

I always wondered the same thing but it allows me a better chance to get 10 points. I just figured people are really lazy or lack Internet search skills. I'm not sure what low self esteem has to do with it? There is a lot of information out there even when you do a google search and it takes a bit of intelligence perhaps common sense to sift through all of the information to find a credible answer. Also I believe some people value personal experience and wants to know what information exists out there from experts and personal opinions of others from direct experience.

Laziness. I only ask questions on here after I have spent hours trying to find the answer by myself. This is like last resort place for me.

man, i ask myself the same question every time i look here! i think that it's a combination of laziness and just for attention. i was looking the other day, and some girl flat out posted the question to her homework and bribed people to do it for her by selecting them as the best answer. other times people just type crap up on the screen so people will give them the time of day.

Some times it is a time frame. Other wise, they may not know how to start or be willing to follow all of the directions. Can take a lot of time. Since I like to help people, I usually don't question it unless it is a non question and or it is a stupid question?

I know! I think it's laziness, it has to be...
The worst thing is when people ask for song lyrics! I mean, how hard is it to go on a lyrics website, type down the song title (or the words that you do know) and hit the "search" button...

Some are proably lazy or they just want to see if we know the answer before they go searching.
