From my experience, its a good idea to put a pump on your registry for the simple fact, you may have to buy another pump anyway. For my situation, I bought a manual pump ($25), because I thought it would be easy to use, it was but the suction wasn't always great. So I decided to get an electric pump ($70), and it was even worse. I hated it and used it once. So I tried one more pump another electric one ($50), and opened it and never used it, because my breast was 2 big for it. Trouble with breast pump once they are open, you can't return them to the store, so I had 3 pumps that just gathered dust.
So out of pocket I paid $145.

Get a Medela pump in style if you are going to need to pump regularly to go back to work or whatever. It was awesome and fast. I'd take it to the hospital, too. I didn't and wished I did.
Don't feel wierd about putting it on a registry. If people want to pool their money to get a gift, that would be a great one. I felt wierd about it when I waas pregnant, but after having used it, breastfed in public, etc, I don't think it's wierd at all!
Or maybe you feel like you just want folks to get you stuff specificaly for the baby like clothes and exersaucers and whatnot. If that's the case, then don't put th pump on there.
My over all feeling is put it on there. It is for the baby, too! It just happens to benefit mom as well (or dad if he wants to feed baby), but then again so does a bouncy seat or anything that keeps baby happy! If it's on there, then people have that option.

Though breast pumps aren't *supposed* to be used by more than one woman, all of the parts can be sterilized. You can also buy replacement parts for the stuff that comes in contact w/ your breast and milk in case you still get the "eww" notion of using something that touched another woman's breast. The biggest chunk of the expense is the motor, so if you can get that for free then I'd say go for it!
I didn't put one on my registry b/c...well, I don't know why I didn't, but I'm kinda glad, since the breastfeeding thing didn't work out for me :( But congrats on wanting to try it out, and I hope you have great success!

It depends on the one your sister is offering you. If it's a standard over the counter model you can buy at any Target or Walmart, pass. If she is offering you a Medela jump on it. As for putting it on your registry - go for it & go for a good model - like Medela that has a dual option, (they have a web site). Sometimes people will do group gifts & believe me a really good pump is worth much more than 50 onsies & baby toys they won't care about for 7 months.

Do not use a used or rental pump, even hospital one. No breast pump can be completely sterilized.
I bought First Years Dual Electric Deluxe, and it sucked (not literally!). I heard Medela pumps are excellent, so if you're putting it in the registry (meaning, you won't be buying it yourself - they are expensive), then request a Medela. If you're not sure how often you're going to be using it, go with a manual one.

Yo can put it on the registry why not. Or you can rent the electric kind. they work the best. You have to buy the sterilized suction parts for the breast pump to go with it, but very worth it.

If you feel funny about it don't put it on there. Instead let that be a gift to yourself and then put the accessories for it on the baby registry. Most have certain bottles that work best..or the bottle liners...or the clips to attatch to the bags to keep them sealed etc.... then you can get the type you want for sure and not feel weird about having it on the registry. Someone offered me one when i was pregnant...and i felt weird too...so i just bought my own...they aren't THAT expensive..i got mine at walmart for $40.00

If you get on WIC most states will supply one for you. If you want you can put it on the registry unless you are a little embarrassed by it, then I would suggest you buy it yourself. The electric ones are much easier with dual breast pumps.

First of all, you should have your own. Bacteria can live in breast pumps even if you wash them thoroughly. If this is someone else's, it can give you an infection or rash. I believe you should buy your own b/c they can be really expensive. Maybe if you get some money from relatives you can use that to buy your pump. Then you can pick the best one too, and not have to worry about someone getting you a "cheapie".

Being in the same place that you're in. I'm not sure how I would feel about using someone else's breast pump. I have heard from alot of people that the more money you pay the better the pump..... so....
But I would just think about it, how do you really feel about it. I would do some resreach and go by how you feel about it.
I am thinking about getting a hand pump one, even though I've heard bad thangs; like your hand and wrests will hurt and what nots. I've also heard that they like the hand ones, because you can control the presure.
