Molly Brown is a true 'rags to riches" story. She and her husband discovered silver and gold in Colorado that made them rich.

She was also a very generous philanthropist to many charities. For a little peek into her life, see the classic movie about her called "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (1964) starring Debbie Reynolds. This is a musical, and it is Hollywood, so take it with a grain of salt. But, it is entertaining and somewhat informative nevertheless.

In general...Molly Brown was a johnny-come-lately to the rich and wealthy society in Denver. She became "famous" for being among the few survivors of the sinking of the Titanic. Hollywood, of course, made a movie about her...mostly fiction, but, there you have it. Make a movie about the rich survivor......

Molly Brown was considered Neuvo Riche...made money quick , gold I believe. Was never raised to be "high class" ...therefore she was very crass. As depicted in the movie Titanic, although she was a first class passenger, as a woman she did not fit the first class image. Played poker, smoked cigars, not exactly what was considered mannerly among the aristocrats. Although, her street smarts helped her survive and take charge under a tragic situation. Look her up on the web. Interesting character.
