I've had four children and each time I had cramps but they were all different. The first pregnancy I thought they were period cramps (for the period that never came. haha) but with my other pregnancies I knew what they were. It's caused by your uterus expanding, the ligaments in your pelvis loosening up. Your blood volume and everything changes in the area so fast it causes cramps similar to when you get your period. Sometimes a little stabby feeling but sometimes a dull ache. Sometimes it shoots down your crotch and sometimes it feels like it goes from belly button to back or butt. Sometimes down your backside towards your legs. It differs.
If you have more than a little spotting or intense pain - call your doctor. If not - it's just the usual.
Good luck.

yes! i was going to ask this question too but you beat me to it. I am 6 weeks right now and i randomly get these short, sharp, stabbing pains in my lower abdomen. And i get light cramping thats more annoying than anything but i heard that it was normal. I feel so relieved now that i know it is pretty normal because the stabbing pain scared me a little.

I had what felt exactly like menstrual cramps for the first two months. Also, when I stand up too quickly I get sharp pains in my lower abdomen. All perfectly normal.

oh yes i have had that and still do at times. like menstral cramps at times. sometimes a stabbing pain cause of the streching ligiments. everything is getting losser in ur body to get ready to expand for the baby to grow. If u are having any kind of bleeding or great concern for the pain u are feeling then go to the ER or talk with ur Doc. Im sure u are just fine, but it dont hurt to get it checked anyway. Good luck and God Bless.

I have, and I think it's probably 'normal' but if they last more than about 15 minutes at a time, or are 'really bad' then you need to see a doctor. And they were 'both sharp and stabbing' and I got them 'all over the place' ... but one time I had 'food poisoning' and was very glad I had gone to the doctor ... so ... GO TO THE DOCTOR and tell him/her EVERYTHING that 'concerns you' and be sure you get some GOOD ANSWERS. Pregnancy is way too IMPORTANT to 'just let it go and see ...'

Cramping is generic interior the early stages of being pregnant. notwithstanding if, if the discomfort is sufficient to make you droop over and seize your abdomen then you truly might desire to work out a doctor for an ultrasound to work out notwithstanding if that's ectopic. many times in spite of the undeniable fact that that's purely issues stretching and changing on your physique that make it slightly uncomfortable. something extra suitable than that, you could desire to be considered. Cramps as your uterus grows is completely normal, yes we've all had them, but if you don't pay attention to them you would barely even notice them there. I know it's easier said then done when it's your first but you need to relax. If the cramps are severe... we're talking 7/10 pains that you can't sit through... get to the hospital, you could have an ectopic pregnancy.

well, I'm 6 1/2 weeks pregnant and I've experienced period like cramps for the past 3 weeks. But I know they are normal because this is my 5th pregnancy and I experienced it with the other pregnancies.

I had some period like cramps in my frist tri. I also had bleeding! Which scared me alot of times, being that I'm caring my first child. But I'm 20 weeks now, me and the baby are just fine!
But if you do have bleeding pay attetion to it and call your Dr. right way. Some women have bleeding that's fine and others aren't fine. Let your Dr. make that decision.

Yes, sort of feels like menstral cramps a bit. It's usually nothing to worry about as long as you aren't bleeding. It's actually quite normal, just your uterus expanding.
