There were a two-volume set of books written in the late 1950's early 1960's during the cold war that told what if you survived nuclear war how would you be able to bring back the rudiments of civilization. The two-volume set of books today is in one volume and in my opinion is not as well-written or as good as the original set. The books are entitled ' THE WAY THINGS WORK ' and what it tells is how to make soap, vinegar and other simple things like how to build and use a simple lathe. There are tons of things in the book that will not only help you build a better place without knowing a huge amount of technical stuff and the two-volume set is a facinating read at the same time. Enjoy.

Captivating, John and Stasi Eldridge. For girls, yes, and it may be a little tacky in parts, but it really is amazing. Wild At Heart is the male version...I work at Family Christian, and people come in all the time to buy both of these. Lots of people do them as wedding gifts. Try it! It's great.
Also, Justin Lookado and Haylie DiMarco did this book called Dateable. It's very instructive for teenagers...about setting limits on yourself and choosing smart things. It's not as cheesy as it sounds, promise.

Apart from the greatest inspirational book, the bible, which i think will be your # answer here...you could try books on WWII, books about holocost survivors or those that hid and the fear they lived in. Very moving stories, and teaches life is worth hanging on to even in the most dire circumstances.Read a book by Corey Ten Boom called The Hiding Place, very moving.

I like non-fiction and biographies. Check out the autobiographies of Colin Powell, Lance Armstrong and Walter Payton.

It's kind of short, but I think it has a really inspirational theme. A very good read!

"April Fool's Day" by Bryce Courtney. Very sad story about amazingly strong people. Read it many times and always cry. But makes me glad for my own life.
