I would hope they would tackle the big domestic problems and leave the little ones alone. Social Security and immigration reform would be at the top of my list.

My expectation is for partisan posturing to continue and little will be done - certainly nothing important in the long run.

Agreed because long back. yet Gandhiji became no longer preserving any best submit in INC that factor and Sardar became lively politically himself. So, the perspectives remained purely perspectives. quickly, many mess ups befell then and adequate dialogue had no longer taken place for the act. in any case, Congress achieved properly till ultimately the adamant rule of Indira Gandhi and the situation became forgotten. They should achieve what congress is suppose to do, provide oversight of the administrative branch of the government.
For the past six years, there has been no oversight either way. Bush never vetoed any bills from congress, and congress never questioned Bush on his policies. That is not a checks and balances system. That was the good old boy system.

Perhaps, if you are very lucky, this session of congress might actually achieve something....
But, sadly, if you think of the last 6 decades of political U.S history, many things have not changed, politicians still remain, greedy, shallow, useless and worst of all LYING SCUM! this applies to all political perties, ALL politicians - none are what they say they are, few do anything to improve our existence, all they do is look out for themselves and their business partners, the only way things might change is to scrap the current system and start again!

I hope they come up with some serious plans to reduce the deficit. Since the current administration has decided to lower our taxes while we astronomically increase our spending, future generations will be forced to pay for this expensive war. I would rather pay higher taxes than pass on the expense to our kids and grandkids.

They are going to show you exactly what they are.....a bunch of poops, that are going to raise your taxes....tell you what you can and cannot do for and to our children....remember Hill's speech....it takes a village.....what she means by that is ..... we the government are going to force laws on you to tell you exactly what you can and cannot do to and for your children.....it is called DICTATORSHIP or COMMUNISM, they prefer neither. But the Rep, form Calif. wants Congress and is putting in front of Congress the potential law that say you cannot spank your child rear.....when the Gov. gets involved this way....it is communism. Granted, many children are being abused and those should be punished.....but don't tell me how to correct my child, I do have a brain and I know the difference between a beating and a spanking. It should only be used as a last resort. But I do not want a Democrat telling me what to do with my child and how best to raise him/her. Unlike the liberal democrats, I have common sense. But I can't wait to hear all of you who voted in the demos. when they start raising your taxes, we get attacked again on top of the extremely high gas prices....those who elected them deserve it.

I dont think passing more laws and adding more bureaucracy is the most important goal. they need to enforce the laws that are already on the books. a bill passed and signed into law says a 3 wall system from California through Arizona SHALL be built. the biggest area for drug and illegal trafficking on the southern border however it has not been acted on. laws are nothing but words on paper. Its the act of enforcing them that fixes the problems. also fixing the trade problem we currently face with china and other parts of the world. we are at an extreme dissadvantage that is costing american companies and citizens by the imbalance and it needs to be stopped.

My hope is that they will learn to work together on the issues of the war, immigration, and taxes, and stop the blaming and finger pointing.
