My best friend committed suicide several years ago. he gave me some clothes of his -not long before that-that he claimed he didnt need anymore. I stopped wearing them after he killed himself because i felt kinda creepy wearing them. What would you do?

First of all I am so sorry for your friend, may he rest in peace. As for his clothes my guess would be that he gave them to you because he wanted to leave something of his behind, and so that you would remember him? I mean he knew you could afford your own clothes. Don't wear them since they freak you out but keep them!

My teenage children had a cousin of 16 who committed suicide last spring. They each have some stuff of hers that they proudly wear, and I think it is because they feel like they have a little piece of her with them each time they wear her stuff. It is not creepy at all. It is a way of being able to deal with a painful and unfortunate situation, and a way to let go of the anger and confusion that they had to deal with.

My sister died 2 years ago. I took 2 of her t-shirts that fit me and wear them when I can to remember the good times.

I think that it depends on how YOU feel about it. My friend gave me his jacket to wear shortly before he died. I wore it initially, because it made me feel closer to him, and it smelled like his aftershave.
After some time passed, it no longer gave me the same comfort, and I felt unfomfortable about it, like I was trying to hang onto him, when I really felt like I needed to let him go.
I put his things away for awhile, and when it felt comfortable, I donated them.

If you want to wear them there's nothing creepy about it, unless you make it creepy. If you aren't comfortable wearing them, then don't. You don't have to keep them either.

Donate them. We donated almost all of my moms clothes after she died. I still wear some of her things, like her bath robe. But she died naturally. Id probably donate them if they creep you out too much to wear them.

Was he your best friend? I would if he was my best friend. I also would take care of his clothes because it would be the only thing material from him but the best is the memories.

I would choose one outfit that seems to be especially his and wear it once a year in remembrance and to feel close to him.
