They're doing it because they dont have any new ideas.
Thats how WCW crashed, they relied on Hogan and all these different nwo's and then had no new ideas to fall back on.
the same things happening now, Vince has not had a good idea in years, so he just keeps trying to milk money out of old ideas that were good and now 90% of wwe shows are complete crap and the tna audience is slowly growing every week.

This answer is quite simple. The WWE writers consistently attempt to build matches around storylines, instead of building storylines around matches. After hearing the shoots of superstars, matches are predictable and lack suspense. ECW (although quickly becoming a watered down) does a little better job of building suspense. TNA does the best job of building suspense. Wrestling just like any other form of entertainment must create suspense in some way. Then you add the sports part to it and realize that in any kind of sport there is the quote "that is why they play the game." WWE has a plethera of talent but watching Raw Smackdown sometimes ECW and most PPVs its like the matches are becoming mere formalities. It is hard to get on the edge of your seat when the storyline and popularity clearly tilts the advantage in one or the other wreslters favor long before the bell sounds.

Yes a lot of WWF/WWE's old gimmicks and traditions are showing up currently on their programing. I would guess that they are trying to grab viewers with successes that worked for them in the past. Also trying to keep viewers who have been watching for years with things they remember from years gone by. They have also brought back some stars such as: Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Tatanka, Jeff Hardy, Test, Viscera, Vader (shortly), Goldust (shortly), and there are rumors of Henry O Godwinn and Flash Funk coming back.

The WWE is living in the past when they had good story lines and was very entertaining. Now it just sucks so they figure if they keep trying to relive the past, it will keep us satisfied for a while. And it will for a short while but the WWE writing staff needs to learn how to be creative with its current talent instead of rehashing old ideas.

Because the WWE Writing Team sucks and they have no creativity at all. Only thing they can rely on is the success of The Attitude Era, instead of trying to push it's new talent.

What is wrong with nostalgia? You have to know your past to know where you are going. Some WWE fans are fans from the past. And I am sure that some of them like it. I would like to see another Attitude era take place.
