last week i saw on a t.v show (was not a reality show) a gril with 16 years old she had a health problem that could kill her if she didn´t took care of it ,so her mother put her in a lunatic asylum , the gril had no mental problems. I just wanna ask if a parent of a tenager can put there tenager in a lunatic asylum if they have a health problem that could kill the tenager and the tenager dosen´t wanna take care of it, even if the tenager has no mental problem.

i know that in louisiana if a minor is putting their life in danger they can be committed to a mental facility. the police will take them if the parent doesn't feel that they are able to keep them from harming themself. but it varys from state to state. most people can only be held for 72 hours unless the doctor decides that they are a permanent danger.

Okay - you're framing your question in such a way that it seems like you're worried someone could send someone (maybe even you) to a "lunatic asylum" against their will.

A few things come to mind
1. there are no lunatic asylums any more. mental health facilities these days are reserved for only the most extreme cases of illness e.g. paranoid schizophrenia, somecases of bipolar disorder
2. if the teenager is a habitual suicidal person and is a risk to her own safety, then committment into a mental health facility is indeed advisable. The state does this for her own safety. LIKELY what the tv show didn't tell you is that her suicidal tendencies stem from something that is pervasive and ultimately hazardous to herself without treatment. This person probably had a health issue that you were not maid aware of. Also btw, feelings of suicide are not a mental health issue - carrying them through is a problem though (not neccessarily a disorder). So if YOU are experieicing suicidal feelings, that is normal - acting them out is not.
3. if someone has no mental health issues, there is no reason to send them to a mental health facility. Given funding issues, and the possibility for legal problems in misdiagnosis - there is no reason on any end of the spectrum for someone to send another to a mental health facility without proper reason.

i do not understand what precisely you advise by technique of a lunatic asylum yet when you're asking in case your mothers and fathers or absolutely everyone else can stress you to enter treatment for a psychological disease the answer is convinced they could providing.... they are keen to signal a court docket affidavit below penalty of perjury that you're a probability to your self or to OTHERS that meet the statute to emphasise evaluation of a situation. interior the ability they are given a era of time to judge the want for psychiatiric intervention and a record is made lower back to the court docket to proceed treatment or to launch the fellow on their own. Your mothers and fathers can in common words stress a psychological evaluation. The courts will take heed to the physicians so some distance as what might want to take position to you and then by technique of court docket order mandate treatment if mandatory. so some distance because the position that could want to ensue... maximum in all probability a health center considering maximum close by psychiatric centers were closed.

Yes,

An asylum is for people who can't make decisions well enough to do things in their own best interest. Normally, these are relegated to the mentally challenged or psychopaths unable to control impulses.

You have to have two doctors sign off on it and the minor can protest through the court system if desired.

I guess it's possible, since the parent is responsible for that person until they are 18.
