Without actually seeing the car, it is pretty difficult to tell you.
If you have been directed to a TEST ONLY facility, all you can do is see to it that it is fully warmed up, and that all of the emission reducing equipment is functioning, including the smog pump and system, the EGR valve if equipped, engine is tuned reasonably, and the ignition timing is within 2° of spec., and that NO parts or connections are disconnected, missing or modified. See that the oil is reasonably fresh (< 2000 miles) and the air filter is not loaded.
If you are allowed to go to a TEST & REPAIR facility, ask the shop to survey the vehicle for you BEFORE the test, and perhaps perform a PRE-TEST to determine if ther are repairs or adjustments necessary.
