I live in San Antonio, Tx. There hasen't been snow here in about 2 decades ~ and I'm 23. The ice is really thick and icicles are hanging off the car. And my door was froze shut. I had to put in some extra effort to open it :P

Run your car's heater/defroster on high until the ice softens and the scrape, scrape, scrape. If your car is not equipped with a heater, then I guess all you can do is scrape.

It depends on what the ambient temp. is If it is 20 or below you prob. need a can of de-icer, but if it is warmer try this

1) Start your car and turn on the defroster

2) Using a towel with warm water, wipe the windows. Do not use overly hot water as you may shatter the glass because of the extreme temp. differences.

3) After the ice is melted and gone, wipe it briskly with a dry towel to get rid of water that might re-freeze.

4) Now get in the car and warm up your hands on that defroster

.That should have done it...

Never pour hot water over cold windows, darcy is deranged.

You can use cool water, or buy some prestone de-ice spray.

When I lived in Boston, I just grabbed a 2-quart plastic container and filled it with hot water. No scraping, no wait. Just poured it on the windshield and anywhere else that was frosted and it cleared right up.
