Get a recommendation from a friend/relative on a good realtor. They will help you out with all the paperwork and tell you what to do. An FHA loan is good for 1st time buyers. Ask the mortgage comapany about your options. They will help.

There are a ton of things you should do to get prepared. This includes:

- check and fix credit
- make sure you have plenty of seasoned assets
- research to find a home in your price range
- research mortgage products to find the one that fits your budget and long term goal

So much more, but that should get you thinking on the right track.

Get a real estate agent with lots of patience and experience. They will walk you through it all, from inspection to title and more.

Seek out a LOT of lenders and see which gives you the best offer. Try your bank/credit union to see if you can get something good there too.
