I mean, shouldn't re-solve mean to solve something over again?

They don't mean exactly the same thing. "Solve" is used when the question is presumed to have a (single) correct answer. "Resolve" is used when a decision needs to be made, but there is no initial presumption of there being any answer, let alone a correct one. You solve a puzzle, but you resolve an issue.

As to why "resolve" doesn't mean "re-solve", it's because here "re-" means 'back', not 'again'.

Although similar in meaning and often mixed the words do have a slight but subtle difference. Generally to resolve something is to find a solution by analysis and thus 'solve' the problem., it is to explain, to determine or to pass as a resolution.

To 'solve' is to 'discover' the answer, to clear up a problem.

You could say that if you solve a problem it is to discover the answer whereas to resolve a problem is to undo a previous action that has caused the problem.

Why DO these two words have the same meaning?
Solve- to find a sloution or answer to a question or problem
Resolve - to find a solution to a problem or an argument
COLLINS COBUILD New Student's Dictionary
The University of Birmingham/HarperCollins Publishers 2002

Resolve - to make a firm decision to do something
Resolve - the determination to do something

Sure the two words have the same meaning, but it is the other meaning above that gives "resolve" it's character.

p.s. Who was the winner who gave me the thumbs down?

Adam was the son of God in the sense that God formed him personally. Jesus is the Son of God, as Jn 3:16 the only begotten Son. Meaning born, the only Son born of God. The Holy Spirit of God moved on Mary and brought life to the seed in her. Son Born of God. Jesus and Adam are different in that point. But they are spoken of several times together. That would be a good bible study for you. It will help you understand the difference and what the implications are.
