All good answers.. also go to Lowes or Home Depot and they have these scented air filter inserts. Basically you place these in your air filter and they last a few weeks and keep your house smelling really good. Although if you wanna get rid of the smell from cooking steak or fish in your kitchen, you'll still wanna vent it out. Another thing you can use is insence, if you are not too bothered by smoke, or potpourri. Of course candles are a good way to go. Also, go buy some of those car air freshners that come in a can. I have on in my closet and keep a couple in our family room and they work pretty good for a couple of weeks. But my fave is to use the air filter inserts.

Sprinkle baking soda on the carpet about 15 min. before you vacuum, it help remove odors. Also throw some lemon rind into the garbage disposal, it gives the kitchen a fresh scent. Air out/beat all quilts, mats, rugs frequently. Open the windows to air out the house. Do your laundry promptly. Just take some time out every week to clean well. You don't really need all those air freshers if you keep a clean house. The air fresheners aren't good for you or the environment anyway. If you are a big fan of them, use potpourri or a bit of orange peel in a dish of baking soda.

Light lots of scented candles. Use Febreeze to spray down couches and beds and curtains. Keep smoke out of the house, and open windows a lot during the day to air everything out. Do a lot of laundry if you have them in your house/apartment and run the dryer with a fabric sheet or two- that adds nice smells.
Spray a lot of air freshner, and buy a little plug in Glad scented freshner to keep things smelling nice. Keep your dishes clean and the garbage thrown out, buy a baking soda box and open it and put it in places where you have smells. Clean your bathroom and wash the toilet inside and out, and the showers.
Vacuum a lot to pick up food particles and junk. All of this will help add up to better smells!

I use Febreeze like mad. When my kiddos eat oranges, I will put the peelings into bowls and let them sit in the kitchen for a few hours...nice citrusy smell in there...don't forget to toss them. Right before I go to bed at night, I sprinkle my carpets with rug and room deoderizer. I'm lucky enough to be a stay at home mom, so I vaccuum the next morning and the house stays fresh all day.

The air wick oil works great... I have one plugged in every room and the house always smells great. I get tons of compliments on the fragrance. I also make sure that the laundry is done, I keep baking soda in the fridge and freezer and also i have a box of it in the bottom of my husbands closet. It helps if the house is clean... dishes are washed, and the floors vacuumed. Have a great day.
