I know most people use Similac or Enfamil for their babies, but since I wont be getting WIC and will be paying for it myself I was wondering about Nestle Good Start. It's cheaper and claims to be just as good or better than the others. Has anyone used it? and if so, was it better, worst, or the same as Similac or Enfamil??? Thanks

If breast feeding was an option I would do it but since its not , just try answering the question and keeping your personal beliefs to yourselves, Thanks

We have tried a lot of formulas on my son. He has a very sensitive stomach and we did end up switching from Enfamil to Good Start which seems to work, although I was still paying a lot for formula, even with the coupons. I am now using Parents Choice Gentleease from Walmart, which has the EXACT same ingrediates and has MORE DHA and ARA than the other formulas, and it is $14.99 a canister compared to Enfamil at $24 a canister and Goodstart at $21 a canister. I have discussed it with my doctor and He confirmed it has the same things in all the more expensive formulas. I would suggest Parents Choice from Walmart. Good Luck. I didn't qualify for WIC either so this was the next best thing for us. :)

I liked nestle better because it had less bubbles and smelled better.
However, I joined the 'clubs' for similac and enfamil and nestle good start ....they all gave good coupons -sometimes $10 off. I bought whatever I had a coupon for after my baby was eating solids 3 times a day. Which was about 6 months old.

i have never tried that kind, but make sue you check with the babys peds. i believe the hosp will start the baby on similac w/ a normal diet, no allergies. and according to my son's peds, they don't want him changing formula until after 6 months. I am using similiac for my son now, and if you have a sam's club or other bulk store try going there for formula and diapers. its way cheaper. walmart sells a 25 oz can of formula for $23 or so, and i get a 36 oz can at sam's for $27. and the bigger cans last my little guy about 2 weeks. baby sure arent cheap!

I used nestle good start and loved it.
I breast fed for a while, but had issues and eventually couldn't anymore. I tried Similac and Enfamil, but it made my son's poops like peanut butter consistancy and he was straining a lot to poop and got gassy. I switched to good start and his poops returned to breast milk fed consistancy and he didn't get gas or strain anymore.
I will be using Nestle Good Start with DHA/ARA with my next child as well, if I am unable to breast feed again.

I used Nestle Good Start with my second daughter because she couldn't handle the other formulas. It was great it made her a different baby. Not only is it cheaper but if you go to www.verybestbaby.com you can sign and receive coupons and checks for free cans.

I think its fine..... Never used it personally though.... just read the back of the ingrediants to compare what baby has now, a lot of off brands are the same exact ingrediants, just a different label, I buy off brand mesicine for my kids why $7.00 for an allgery medicine when I can pay $2.00 for the same exact thing...... The only thing I'd never buy off brand is diapers!!!! Always has to be pampers, a lot of off brands will smell bad after baby has urinated *ugh* Good Luck and Congrats on the baby!!!! :-)

Tell ya something! If u talk to a WIC specialist they will tell u that all formulas have the same ingredients and theres no differences between name brand and the store brand!!!! I used store brand because its bigger and alot cheaper than the name brands. Dont let the labels trick u.

Good for you! Nestle Good Start is an excellent choice. I used it with my last baby because Prosobee was just too expensive. Good Start Soy filled him up just fine, he gained weight and everything. Remember that the baby market is still mulit-billion dollar business and if they can get you to think that price determines quality then you will spend more money.

I tried it with my son before switching him to soy because of fussiness & gas and just ended up using similac because I had alot of coupons, but I would have used the good start if I didn't have the similac coupons. My s-i-l used it for her children and they were all happy & healthy.

we are on WIC and we get good start. i like it. it helps cut down on the gasi-ness and he seems to like it, but he liked all the formulas we tried.
i was concerned about good start at first b/c it wasn't the brand i heard about like enfamil, but i compared the nurtition labels and they all have pretty much the same thing ingredient for ingredient. my doctor said that they are all the same and not to worry.
so, buy the cheaper formula with DHA and ARA and you're baby will be fine!
take care.
