Moths and many other nocturnal insects are attracted to light, but you should note that heat given off by an object is given off as infra red light; light just outside of the visible spectrum, so the question is a bit more complex. However it seems that UV light( at the opposite end of the spectrum from infra-red) is a really good attractant so it is likely that heat is less effective.
There are many theories about why they are attracted to light, but none have been proven
Note that Mosquitoes seem to be attracted to the carbon dioxide given off while we breathe rather than light .

They like heat and they are attracted by it...But you probably asked this cause you see them flying around light bulb or something as such...Its because the light comes from the sun, they are used that during day in places where is light it is also warm...So at night they think that light bulb is actually a sun and that's why their senses tell them its warm around there...So they go for it...

They sure do. That's why people say "like a moth to a flame".
