It depends - I have no problem wearing a dress or skirt in the summer - but come the winter i dont want draughts blowing up my skirt!!!
I do agree to an extent with you though - a lot of women make NO effort when it comes to getting glammed up anymore - if you want to start a revolution when it comes to encouraging the ladies to wear these dresses - maybe pass a compliment - alot of women just dont see the point in getting dolled up as their men dont acknowledge the effort they've made!!!
Not that a man would have any influence on what I did or did not wear - but sometimes its just nice to hear!
xx

I spend my life in black pants (for college, which has a strict business dress code) and jeans when I am out with my friends. It is easier and warmer to do so. Skirts are good for summer but even then, sometimes pants are the more practical option. Plus, as I go to a mixed sixth form at an all boys school, the idea of wearing a skirt and the wind blowing it at this time of the year would lead to major blushing lol!

I take it you're from Scotland, the kilt things a bit of a give-away. i guess the women up there don't wear skirts/dresses as often coz it's colder up there. I've got relatives from up there and i only see them every few years, i was surprised to see how they dressed actually when i saw them.
If you go on a night out in Manchester though most of us lot wear little skirts and nice dresses, we love dressing up. if it's cold we cover up with tights. Nowt wrong with making an effort to impress hey!

I am not Muslim, but I am a Christian who wears hijab. No offense, but you seem to have a pretty narrow view of Muslims and hijab. Most hijabis, especially in Western countries, do not wear the all black abaya/hijab that you are probably think of. Indeed, all of the modest ladies (Christian and Muslim) I know wear normal American clothing that just happens to cover most or all of their body, with a headscarf on top. I can't speak for all hijabis, but no, I do not envy women who are "wearing a cute dress". In fact, I pity them. I feel sorry for anyone who either 1. feels she must display herself so openly, as there are obviously deep psychological issues at work there, such as poor self-esteem (and I should know, I was once in their shoes), or 2. someone who perhaps doesn't even realize that she is displaying herself openly. Whether it is intentional or not, such a woman probably does not realize the harm she is doing to herself. So no, I can honestly say I do not envy such a woman. The Lord blessed me with this change almost a year ago, and I never plan to go back. Just through your question I can tell that you, like much of our society, equate hotness with beauty, when they are two totally different things. Keep in mind that one can be beautiful without being hot. In fact, I dare say that a woman is more beautiful when she is not trying to be hot. When I used to dress like a typical American girl, I got the wrong kinds of attention. Now that I dress modestly, I am often told how beautiful I look by strange men and women, but in a nice way, not in a creepy kind of way. And by the way, I do think I look cute in many of my outfits. You don't need to wear a skin-tight dress to be cute or fashionable. Take a look at some hijab fashion blogs or vlogs and you'll see what I mean. Please do take a look at some. It may change your view of hijab. All that aside, I may not envy a girl's revealing attire, but I do occasionally envy a cute hairstyle. But then I remind myself that 1. I rarely ever did anything with my hair before I started veiling. 2. There are so many beautiful and fun new ways to wear a headscarf. 3. I get to change my "hair" color and style everyday. How can you beat that?

Ah I have seen and article about this but I can't remember where. Apparantly kilts are more comfortable for gents because it always room and air to their tackle. However women like to be more snug and protected. They can look just as sexy in a good pair of jeans as in a dress though.

I love wearing skirts and dresses, they make me feel feminine and attractive, although at times it can be more practical to wear a pair of trousers. But I tend to try and go fo trousers which make me look feminine, not flowery or pink, just flared and shaped nicely. I think that not enough women wear skirts and dresses. I think in a way they dont want to appear to female to the opposite sex and find that they feel stronger and more powerful if they wear trousers. but everyone is different, I guess some women just dont like wearing trousers.

Cant get more comfortable than jeans and tee shirt. If we wear skirts we have to wear tights and uncomfy shoes, where as you wearing your kilt can wear nice long thick socks and comfy brogues! Big difference!

I am not one of those women. I enjoying dressing up in skirts and dresses. Many women do not like them because you must behave in a specific ladylike fashion and you must be more careful in a skirt/dress. They would rather wear pants/jeans b/c there is less fuss involved.
For me, it is quite comfortable. But, for some, it feels like there is too much primping involved to wear skirts and dresses. One must sit like a lady and be careful how they bend and move. (unless, of course, they want to show ...).
But, in pants/jeans, these things don't matter as much.
Just my own opinion.
