Worse and for good reasons, I've been thru a tornado, hurricane, a tsunami, and fire. I've seen people rally, organize, and fend together as a group and thanking the help they received. I even volunteered to help in these situation and everyone worried about the money from our insurance after things were organized and put into order. We shared food and resources (gasoline, generators, water) and showed a sense of community.

We didn't see this from the "victims" of NOLA Katrina, they blamed the government for a natural disaster when they were given way more than adequate time to evacuate. When they organized as a group it was to riot and raid the stores looting like it was Christmas (first support link), instead of organizing and restore order within their ranks. Louisiana wasn't the only state hit, so was Mississippi, Florida, and Alabama but most of those residents were White, organized, kept lawful, and did not make human drama called news by letting chaos reign thus not getting the media attention they deserved as well (second link). But we're made to feel that it's the government's fault the situation was so awful, it's the government's fault for not providing immediately, and it's the government's fault for not reestablishing law and order when these three other states did not have the same support but we didn't hear from them?

What does one get for helping the poor Blacks after a year (a whole year, why does it take them so long to recover?)? Why Houston opened their arms, wallets, and hearts to only have them thanklessly slapped, stolen, and stabbed (third link). These so called victims are criminals and vagrants, the type of people you don't want in your city, it seems the people who are compassionate, feel sorry for, and respect the Katrina victims obviously didn't work, live, or did voluntary assistance in direct contact with them, it seems if they did they would ask them to please "move along" please and wouldn't want them either because they not only are not thankful for what's given to them, they destroy many of the things that were (fourth link). Is this a bunch of White racist who believes this? Wrong, it's a diverse public crowd who wants to have NOLA members gone (fifth link, less than 7% of Houston's population caused a spike increase 25% in violent crimes and homicide).

What else can be said, they weren't the shining example of humanity and their presence is considered a blight to where they end? Those who speak otherwise need to pull up some resources and facts to back their arguments to prove the rest of us otherwise. Is it racial, is it true, and can it be backed up? I didn't make them this way but it seems I can see it, evidence is there, and unfortunately it can be substantiated from multiple sources.

My perception of the people who suffered through Katrina didn't change, but I am so disappointed in the way people there were treated after the disaster, they hardly got no help at all! yet billions is sent to other countries. People are all the same to me-I don't care what color their skin is, all of us should be treated fairly.Katrina wasn't just all black people, there were people of every nationality who suffered.

It wasn't my opinion of black or white people that changed it just reinforced my opinion that ALL people can do really stupid things, make horrible decisions then blame someone else when things go terribly wrong. The people of NOLA were warned and warned and warned to GET OUT OF TOWN!!! They had ample opportunity to do what was best and they chose not to, then blamed the government, the president, FEMA, the governor, the mayor, the National Guard, the police and the guy down the street for their bad decision, and now want the people who made the correct decision to leave to pay for their mistakes....

Yes it has changed for the worse. So many reasons to list.

Edit: I will list a few reasons.
They were warned to leave,...yet they didn't.
They chose to stay and afterwards were blaming the government.
And the fact that most hollered "If we were white!,...."
Not to mention that when they took things from stores it was mostly things they really didn't need. TV,Microwaves, perms, etc.
When they received $2,000 cards they spent the money on expensive purses, strip clubs, drugs, etc.
I live near Houston and the crime rate has increased tremendously.
Not to mention how some have left apartments that the government rented for them. (Trashed them out, stole sinks, put holes in walls, demolished them)
Need I say more?

not at all Going to the Stadium purely confirmed orderly evac under the situations. the photographs of looting gave me hassle till the rescuers have been shown taking moist stuff off of human beings because of the undesirable water. besides the undeniable fact that it ticks me off that the Gov.did not declare an emergency did you be attentive to FEMA cant are available in till asked by using the Gov. because of the fact of Constitutional States Rights Clause. Why did not the Mayor use the college buses to get human beings out 11thousand buses conserving 40 5 human beings each might have prevented assorted discomfort. in spite of if each buscontinual exchange into allowed to take his very circle of relatives members a lo;t of previous human beings and toddlers might have been saved. My photograph of Politicians purely went downhill. The Gov and Mayor diverted Federal Levey money on different issues and then blamed the Fed's. What relay breaks my heart the human beings born and raised in NO because of the fact they have been renters. the valuables proprietors are not going to construct low income homestead because of the fact the land would be to effective now.

It did change. Now, more than ever, I am committed to seeing black people triumph in the face of adversity. They are rebuilding their city, taking it back, and no one is going to stop them.

I don't know why the loaded question, though. I mean, I see all sorts of racist answers. Why does it have to be like that?

Our black brothers and sisters are doing all they can to recover from the worst tragedy in the United States since 9/11 (and even that's incomparable, considering that Katrina was natural and 9/11 was man-made). Yes, the recovery effort is slow, but it's only because the city was trashed so badly.

As far as looting goes: Wouldn't you? Yes, it's wrong, but these people were trying to provide for their families! Sometimes it's necessary to steal to survive.

It's a forgivable offense, considering that many more white people commit many more horrible crimes, and in greater frequency. What's their excuse?

Leave the blacks alone. They've got enough problems without you adding racism to their stress.

No, but based on some answers maybe they should have all got out of there in their Mercedes and got out of there in time. Civilization is dependent on food, water, heat, and security. Take these elements away and even the best of us will resort to instinct. One should not think too highly of ones self while he has the comforts of civil society. We all have our animal side. Just wait until the conditions change. See Great Depression and events of genocide in history. In the right conditions people will start making lamp shade out of people.

Mine stayed exactly the same. I was expecting just what happened. Now Mexicans are rebuilding New Orleans which is pathetic. At least rebuild your own city.
