You might melt the aluminum cans and then as yourself how you came up with that idea.

The Manganese when burned hot enough helps break down the tarry and heavy creosote leaving it flaky and powdery making it much easier to clean/brush, problem is too many people think it'll clean it outright and never end up cleaning their pipes (pun intended). Stay safe

It can poison you faster. Aluminum is a multi based metal and puts off some rather hazordous fumes when burned at certain tempaturers.
