I never liked waterbeds as I had only slept on the kind with the full wave action. We just got a semi waveless mattress and it is fantastic. The bed is always warm when we go to get in, and it's not sloshy in the slightest. Hubby says that in the summer time, the bed will be nice and cool as well.
Go to a waterbed store together and try laying on different mattresses....the salespeople don't mind a bit.

They are kind of expensive, but a sleep number might work for you. The foam & water beds are pretty nice too. They don't seem so much like a waterbed. Foam or air have fewer pressure points than a regular spring mattress. Something for the waterbed lover to consider.

Get a sleep number bed, you can adjust it to whatever comfort level you want. If that doesn't work, get 2 separate beds I guess.
