You see, we are clearly losing the war in iraq. Why risk any more lives and continue this effort less war. But then again if we started everything, why not stick it out and help out the citizens of iraq?

We should pulled out. Let the iraqis fight their own war. Right now, its not our war anymore.

What makes you think we are losing? A losing side has to resort to hit & run, sniper and guerilla tactics, and terrorist bombs and such.. (That would be the Iraqi insurgents) The winners can walk openly down the street in uniform. This is what we do.
When the insurgents walk down the street openly with their guns and bombs not hidden and in a uniform or symbol of their organization (like their flag if they have one) then they will have won. So how are we clearly losing? Criminals have to hide like they are doing.
I guess I don't get your YOU SEE part.
On the other hand, I understand the, "why" should we care about how the people of Iraq live. Frankly, I don't and think we should get off of the oil equation and use alcohol fuel which we can make in much greater quantity and cheaper here and then we don't need them.
The other part, "freedom from tyrany" where half or more of the population is terrorized is not part of our ideal for the world. Do you know what a Berka is?
One day I was walking down a street in Basra and I assisted a lady who was trying to get her group of children across a busy street without getting them hurt and I asked her why she was walking 10 paces behind her man who had already crossed and was way ahead of her and the kids. Her answer to me was that the men walked in front because of the bombs and mines placed by the terrorists.
Nice way to have to live? On the other hand she did not seem to care if someone trained in her country killed hundreds in a hyjacked plane or train in our country, as plane flight was something that she could not even imagine ever doing.
So in conclusion if we don't need anything that they have to offer then we have only our acts of common decency for a reason to be there and then you must decide if you care whether they live or die. Your Call now?
So Trey, Tell me what have you done for your country? How much time and money do you volunteer or donate? Why are you not involved in either assisting our troops or joining them? If you are disabled or mentally disfunctional I may understand, but to throw out clearly losing makes me think you are a defeatist, and infers that you are not doing much to help. (I hope that no one will assume that you are a spoiled and self entitiled individual who's only involvement is to maybe pay some of your own taxes, and perhaps vote once in awhile and that you ask your question out of ignorance) If as you imply we should leave then someday the terrorists will be walking down your street. I hope you grow up a bit before it comes to that.
Where do you get your idea that "we started everything?" Consider your sources of information, they may have an agenda for a different kind of life for you than what you may be dreaming of now. My wish for you is that you have the wisdom to look deeply at all situations and live that commitment and it's consequences.

We should leave and let the UN go in and offer support to the country. What we are doing now is nothing more than an occupying force in a country. It isn't our duty to help other citizens of other countries ahead of what is best for our own country. We have men and women dying from the desire to be in control of all the oil...that is what the Iraq war comes down to. It has already been proved that it is a war based on lies...those lies have a direct link to oil and the energy policies that BushCo has put in place. And those that are suffering is our men and women and the citizens of Iraq.

Not only that but the wars in Iraq has gone on for THOUSANDS of years and can't be solved via the USA's butting in like they did.

Whether you agreed with the war or not - it's all about perception. The american people are so gullible. We believe everything we see on tv or read. We HAVE lost tons of soldiers and it's a pity. My ex just returned from his second year term over there. I know from personal experience what it's like to see your children cringe while waiting to hear the name of the soldier from our hometown that was reported dead. BUT - he has seen with his own eyes the happiness of MOST of the citizens over there to have help. It's an awful situation and yes we could use a lot of help here on the homeland. BUT - we started something and we have to finish it. If we left now - it would go right back to what it was.

Wars like vietnam didn't have news stations in every town in america listing EVERY SINGLE death that happened on a daily basis. Our media exposure today is obscene. One death of an american soldier is too many but it is bound to happen.

I am a proud supporter of our american troops and I applaud those that risk their lives so that we can have freedom to have conversations like these. So my family can sleep safely at night.

Even if you don't agree with the war - please support our troops. They are doing their jobs.

Well let's see - the oil companies made record profits last year and Cheney's company alone made over 8 BILLION...

Yet, we are told we can't afford nationalized health care in the US.

That people have to live on a minimum wage that doesn't cover food let alone housing.

Hmmmmmmm...

When is Bush going to be impeached or has the whole legislative body been paid for by Halliburton?

Is there anyone anywhere who actually believes the US is there to HELP the people of Iraq? There are people in way worse shape in Africa and other places around the world why aren't we there? Does the US only go to "help" the people when they happen to live where there's oil?

It is such a mess in the country and I don't think Bush is going to pull out. He's going to pass the disaster on to the next president and let her/him deal with it. I think if we get a Dem. in office they will withdraw troops but probably offer some type of aide. I do believe the money being spent could be better spent at home but I just don't see it happening.

you just made me feel warm inside. lol almost ne one that i talk to about a Muslim country, hate it and the things they tell me really blow my mind. they tell me f you and they tell me to go back to my country. I too am Muslim... N it's nice to see that someone, at least someone still cares. i agree with you, we should at least help. although it would be a pointless, contradiction. why? bcuz what the point in killing and destroying lives, spend millions upon millions to make these devastating ends meet... sorry but Mr. Bush just isn't that nice. He likes seeing people hurt. He likes seeing babies, and woman, inocent people, just laying about. He has no heart. that's why he's ordering more troops. if home land secrurity comes after me for speaking my mind. well God Bless them, cus that's just how i feel. and i agree with you. MAALIKI

Picture the middle east you want. Peaceful, concerned with life inside each countries borders, no nuclear weapons programs, no genocide, poverty and unemployment at reasonable levels.

We have to do what we can to get to that reality.

"The tree of liberty is nourished with the blood of patriots and tyrants", Thomas Jefferson

Everybody wants the US troops home. I just don't want to ever have to send them back.
