Winning the peace is surely down to the Iraqi people not the US or Brit forces. The fact is there are lots of US companies in Iraq that are making millions $ out of this war and will continue to do so for some time to come, and perhaps more so as the country rebuilds. So who really lost? I would say only the Iraqi people.

The reason why we did is because of the shortsightedness that Bush has. If he would have actually LISTENED to the people who were trying to caution him on what he was doing it would be entirely different. One of those people was his own father...and another was the Generals who have served during the first Iraq war.

This war will not be won under any invading countries (which is what the US is and they don't want us there to begin with) because this "war" has gone on for thousands of years and wont be solved the way Bush is trying to solve it. If you don't believe me then look at Iraq's history and you will see. The Crusades didn't do it, and you think a spoiled, silver spooned brat will change a country?

I DO agree with you that what happens in Iraq will affect the US...it already HAS affected the US. Did you know that there are over 3,000 men and women who have lost their lives because of this war?

I would have to question your assertion that we won the ground war. If you look at every war where there was peace after the war you will notice a common theme: The war was against the WHOLE country -- not just the combatants. WW2 was a perfect example, Berlin got bombed, Tokyo got bombed. We made life miserable for everyone - not just the combatants. When we started playing nice in Vietnam by selectively striking only soldiers we never broke the will of the enemy. In Iraq the "insurgents" will continue to win as long as we have to follow the "rules" and they don't.

Getting the kids occupied and filling their days with actiities .Build youth centers and get the kids into them .get teachers p t instruters entertainent officers into them teach the kids the basics of democracy ,make sure the kids actualy have fun in these centers .Give the kids some light homework to do that their parents can help them with.
Set up adult learning centers get mr yeats to donate a few thousand computers and get these people learning skills .get proper domestic appliances into houses these are the things that can be done .note ,When setting up the kids youth centers make sure that the kids are of mixed religious beliefs and from different backgrounds .Inmy view these are the beginings and thats the only place to start. If a child goes home after being in one of these centers and says to his parents Look mum Look dad see what I did and see what I learned to day that would go a long long long way towards winning the peace

Your right. Its because the government are trying the best to have violence in the middle east get bigger and bigger and the jewish people are mostly in control of the government. So basically, the jewish people dont care about anything but to destroy the mid east. Sooner or later Bush and congress are going to say that they are going to invade Iran.

What ever we get after the collapse of Iraq could be put under the term "just deserts"

It's not so much that we're preparing to lose the peace as that we were never prepared to win it.
