I´m curious about the new versions of these movies and considering getting them on DVD. As a fan of the original film versions of both (1976 + 1972), I was wondering how these new versions shape up in comparison to the old classics.

Both are considerably poorer than the originals.

The Omen is a pretty close remake and seems just a bit redundant. It doesn't really add anything and lacks some of the feeling of dread from the original.

Poseidon has the same premise, but all new characters. Its very short though - a little over an hour and a half and we don't really care for the characters. Its sets up the premise, has a few action set pieces and its over. Its Ok for a quick action/suspense kick, but is nothing special, and lacks the more epic feel of the original.

Obviously the effects are better in the new versions though, if that means a lot too you. But basically, the originals were classics, while neither new film is anything special.

But I hope you enjoy them if you do watch!

Well, it's a matter of opinion, of course. But I did see both *Poseiden I wanted to see and The Omen I was dragged to* and I was bitterly disappointed in both versions *esp Omen* Gregory Peck and Lee Remick were perfectly cast. The new version was almost a cookie cutter version of the classic. Why try to fix something that isn't broken? "Poseidon" was the same way...I'd stick with the orignal all the way.

I haven't seen the new Omen, but did see the new Poseidon on cable during the holidays. It was fairly good - a more updated twist on the sinking.......not as many well seasoned actors but enjoyable.

PP, the Bible’s message is clear for those who will read it with an open mind and seek to understand its meaning. The problem comes when people attempt to make the Word fit their preconceived ideas. This is not the fault of the Bible, but of the people who attempt to force the Bible to say whatever they want it to say. Often the disagreement is not so much with the interpretation of the Scriptures, but with the application.

i loved Poseiden, the Omen was great but the lead actress is the worst actress ever, she was worse than a piece of cardboard leaning up against a wall Julia Styles is her name
